Thomas Telford School, New Careers Centre

AMG have recently completed the new three storey Careers Centre. The project comprised a structural steel frame supported on concrete ground beams spanning between augered concrete piles. The ground floor was a reinforced concrete slab with a methane gas ventilation system. All upper floors are composite concrete/profiled metal deck construction.
External walls are insulated cavity construction with facing brick outer leaf and 140mm concrete block. Internal walls are blockwork. Internal finishes to walls plaster and suspended ceiling throughout.
New windows, doors and curtain walling in aluminium. The roof/deck construction is a warm roof with a single ply membrane on tapered rigid insulation with terrace tiles on pedestals. The second floor pitched roof is standing seam aluminium composite construction on metal purlins. Complete internal fit-out includes suspended ceilings, fixtures, fittings and finishes, new internal drainage, mechanical and electrical services throughout. Installing new foul and stormwater drainage connections, including making good of existing tarmac surfaces. External works include the construction of new brick faced insitu concrete retaining wall, external steps including associated handrails and new areas of block paving, including kerbs. The project also includes for replacement of existing windows in the existing buildings to be carried out summer 2019.
