Project The Oak Rooms, St Bartholomew’s Church, Penn, Wolverhampton
Location Wolverhampton
Client St Bartholomew’s Church
Project Description The works comprised the construction of a new community-based extension to the existing St Bartholomew’s Church at Penn, Wolverhampton – a Grade II* listed church building dating back to the 14th century. On the extension and renovation works, much of the original material was retained and conserved, whilst replacements were sourced sensitively to the existing structures. The church extension was constructed in ashlar stone with traditional natural lime mortar. Additionally the works included the systematic repair and conservation of all parts of the fabric of the adjacent structures, together with the improvement of mechanical and electrical services throughout the building. The existing Grade II* listed building and surrounding outbuildings were carefully protected during the carrying out of the works.
