Alan Garner Centre, Wolverhampton
A new facility providing offices and support for the adult educational learning service of the City of Wolverhampton Council.
Client City of Wolverhampton Council
Project Description The project entailed the conversion of the existing Alan Garner Centre, a Victorian office Building located in the busy city centre to a new facility providing offices and support for the adult educational learning service of the City of Wolverhampton Council. The scheme involved major structural propping to support the existing structure to allow a new steel frame to be installed and to enable the demolition of walls and staircases to create large open teaching space, computer rooms, office areas and wc facilities. A mezzanine floor was installed to provide additional office space together with a new lift. The windows and roof coverings were all replaced and the external facade of the building was retained and restored.
